You're more aware of all the systems they leave behind from game to game, so it could be somewhat true. We probably still hate GameFreak less than people who refuse to buy their games though.

Definitely. I started with Pokemon Yellow when I was 5 years old. Played every Game since then, bought merch, some plushies and figurines are still staying in my room.
But holy fuck I feel like Pokemon doesn't want me to love it anymore.
