It’s weird to think a new entry in both Harry Potter and Fallout franchises came out and nobody really gives a shit, but Pokémon is this unstoppable beast.

The literal first thing GameFreak did when Red/Green ended up being surprise successes in Japan was fund Pokemania's existence just so they could rake in even more money, when just a few days ago they were a company destined for death if Pokemon didn't work out.

Nah, it has multiple reasons. For one, the main plot was concluded; two, this conclusion was unsatisfactory for a lot of people; three, Rowling has done a lot of things to shit on the lore; four, the recent movies have either been mostly uneventful, or were about things we already know about, or we know how they'll end, so they make no difference.
