Love how these are literally the only retorts ever presented while defending Let's Go as passable Pokemon games. Let's go is meant to be a new starting point in the series and bring in new fans. no legitimate points have been made, this game is factually a low quality cashgrab. being rooted in a position with no valid arguments to sustain it makes you significantly worse than being rooted in one that at least has facts and logic to back it up.

the entire premise of it is that new player need this much casualization in a franchise as easy and as accessible at pokemon which served as a kid friendly waypoint for newcomer for years and years. this atrocity fails at the very thing it sets out to do as older games are still accessible enough and have more substance to offer.

this one is a fallacy, gen 8 has nothing to do with being mad at shitty market practices and games being needlessly stripped down that much. but its success could potentially prompt them to go back on their word of making the game for the older players as a sustainable casual audience pandered to means more profit overall so you don't even have a point there.

fun has nothing to do with the discussion at hand OP was clearly complaining how a subjective component is used instead of arguments when faced with objective flaws in a discussion
but when you gouge the actual quality of a product and keep in mind the ever expanding list of basic issues a franchise this big shoudn't have like the lack of content, mediocre graphics, stripped features, garbage animations, and the fact that a game this casualized has no reason to exist or be accepted as pokemon was already simple enough for kids. the fun component comes whether all those indicators of a low quality product get in the way of your enjoyment or not, but it's completely irrelevant to discussion.

It really hinges on what happens next year. I expect Gen 8 is so far into development already that they're not going to suddenly scrap everything in order to dumb it down.

The big problem is if LGPE sells better than next year's games, which would send Game Freak the message that they should just release cut-down Gen 1 again and again.

Whether or not there's fun to be found in Let's Go, as a fan that's been following the series since the start, I have no interest in playing a game that goes out of its way to remove so many mechanics and features I like for the sake of streamlining specifically for an audience that hasn't been playing these games for 20 years.
If the fun of Let's Go comes from adventuring with your Pokémon, getting stronger, and overcoming 'challenges', why would I choose to play it over any of the previous titles, which have more things to offer that I enjoy? Because it looks nice? Being a Pokémon fan, I obviously don't give a shit about graphics, so all in all I'd have more fun playing FRLG than Let's Go, and that's terrible.
Have fun with Let's Go all you want, but understand that it could and should be much better than it is (for everyone, not just casual players), which I think is the heart of most complaints about it. We don't want it tainting future games, so we bitch. It's all we can do.
