The best part of this is that in LGPE, it's pointless to try and walk around them.
Wild Pokemon can't actually hurt you nor do they stop you from running away, they literally just wait for you to chuck balls at them until someone fucks off or you catch them.

visible encounters are good because they greatly reduce rng. If I don't feel like battling Pokemon I can avoid them. If I feel like battling Pokemon I can get specific ones. I don't have to constantly use repels or run in circles for a specific Pokemon.

Never mind that some occasions you outright can't avoid the Pokemon because the maps are too damn small to accommodate that many Pokemon at once.

The whole point of visible encounters is that you can avoid them, if the map says 'no fuck you you're gonna have to engage this shitmon' is bad as it is contradictory to the entire premise.

Wow, I guess it is true. People's defense of the removal of battles is to go 'but Random Encounters', which does not address the issue at all. The point is not that visible encounters are bad, but that the battle that follows the encounter has be completely gutted.

It's because not battling pokémon to catch them literally makes no sense, why would a pokémon not fight back when you are trying to catch it? I mean, even GF thought it was dumb because you battle Snorlax and legendaries like you normally would before catching them.

That's from DP. In RB Oak literally says "Don't go out! It's unsafe! Wild Pokémon live in tall grass! You need your own Pokémon for your protection."

A bit too Npilled but it's because it fits better the idea that Pokemon are your properties. The anime surprisingly drives home the opposite message and Ash always releases a Pokemon that wants to leave.
