Anybody else planning to bo into Gen 8 completely blind?

Not knowing what Pokémon there are besides maybe a few early routes and the box legends, not knowing your starter evos, none of that.

I will not even buy gen 8 until the datamine confirms it's not shit.

I have been doing this since Gen 5 and I fucking love this. It's THE best way to play Pokemon the first time. Going trough Unova without knowing what I would encounter was fucking amazing. I lost my shit when I saw Hawlucha for the first time. I immediately knew it was a Fighting/Flying Pokemon. I thought Crabrawler was a water type so I caught it in a Nest Ball. And the Ultra Beast quest was amazing. I laughed for a good minute or two when I saw Xurkitree pop out. Tapus were cool to hunt down too. Seeing Koko in the begin was really neat, I loved it at first glance.

I’m a NEET that lives on the internet so not really possible to avoid spoilers. As long as they don’t go full-retard and release a demo that has data for every single Pokémon like they did for SM it’ll be fine. XY launch was a lot of fun due the speculation and leaks. I remember when those pictures of Hawlucha and Greninja came out a day or two before launch and people were debating whether or not they were real. Good times.

They've left me no alternative at this point. I am tired of everything being spoiled before the game releases. Unfortunately for them, that means they have to be incredibly amazing from the get go, and I know that's not going to happen. Technically, not even Odyssey could do that, I was only hooked in by the second trailer or whatever was the one that revealed the capture ability. I'm still not confident, because not only do they have to be amazing, they have to be FUCKING amazing to even register.

Avoiding game info for the whole year sounds impossible, so I would recommend avoiding spoilers from the game leaking 1-2 weeks before release. I did that for XY and it was one of the best Pokemon experiences I had, I knew a lot about the game but there were still some Pokemon I'd never seen before that were fun to discover myself.

Do you think they’ll be releasing trailers as frequently as they did with Sun and Moon? Even without the datamine, we were getting new info almost every week - and nearly everything was spoiled. If they tone it down for Gen 8 I might watch the trailers and avoid all leaks, but if they’re releasing a trailer each week I’ll avoid those too. I’ve always wanted to go into a new game blind - it’d be nice to enjoy a new release again.

I can only handwave so much from LGPE essentially being a remake. That doesn't change the matter that even with less to show and less frequent updates, they STILL spoiled EVERYTHING in the game. EVERYTHING! As far as I can remember for ORAS, I think they told us of Delta Episode existing, but not what happened in it, so it was still unknown at release.

Are you me? BW were so special to me because I missed out on a lot of the marketing, only seeing tidbits from corocoro YouTube videos. I even missed the final starter evolutions since /vp/ was new at the time. Now I pretty much have to blacklist this board half a year before release just to avoid final starter evos being leaked 4 months after a reveal

I did this with Sun and Moon, but to such an extreme that I tried not to see any of the starters at all, didn't even try to know what region it was, nothing, I just completely avoided every single bit of promo material I could

I'll probably make a post on some social media site and ask them to summarize the new features. Things I'd want to know are:
- How many new Pokemon there are
- Any new mechanics
- If any old mechanics were taken out
- If the difficulty level is still extremely low
I just don't want to be spoiled for Pokemon designs.
