LGPE has went from being explicitly known as a Mainline Title by essentially every official source other than the Japanese Website, to being known as a Core Title by Masuda, one of the absolute words of god.
There WAS a difference awhile ago, but it means fuck all now that LGPE is the latest Core Title with all of Pokemon's Core Features.
Expect a mass-retcon in the coming days. They'll announce that the Transporter and Bank for Switch are separate from the 3DS', and that no Pokemon will be able to move onward except for those from LGPE and GO.
There will be few survivors. Namely Gen 2's Pokemon, Shillmons and a few of GameFreak Staff's personal favorites, who will use this opportunity to become Shillmons themselves.They've listened to the "true fans", and the "true fans" demand they "trim the fat".
