Makes sense, she's been the stealth main girl ever since the beginning. Lillie shilling was just a byproduct of the games' plot and nothing more. I feel bad for Mallow though, she's turning out to be the token brown hawaiian girl with each passing episode

This was set up from the day she found the Z-Ring ore dude. The whole showing them both receptive to Primarina and both getting bitten by the battle bug in the Double Royal episode is just more set up for it.

Popplio will evolve but so will this chick's Brionne and we'll have Lana's Brionne v redhead's Primarina who will use Sparkling Opretta only to have Lana's pokemon learn a new move or if she gets an Eevee maybe evolve.

And Rowlet has an Everstone now, so the only main cast starter that's evolving this gen is Litten. Rowlet and Popplio both remain as they are.

I always find funny how ash is not allowed to have shillmons except for those specifically designed for him. He has shit like Ash Greninja and Dusk Lycanroc but you will never see him with a riolu, or lucario, or zorua, or even a fucking eevee it seems.

If Lana were the only charact we were factoring in, but:

- Ash also needs two more team members for a full team of six
- There are four other characters and their Pokemon as well

There just is not time to evolve Popplio twice, and those Eevee shorts did the job of showcasing its backstory before it arrived in Alola without cutting into the actual episodes

This is the bare minimum and I can't see Lana getting so many episodes in a series that's almost over. This is also ignoring the fact that Lana might get Eevee.
