I don't get why masuda gets so much hate.

RS was fine. FRLG was fine. DP was fine. BW was fine. XY was fine. LGPE is better than ORAS because it's at least experimenting with the gameplay. You can circlejerk over their enhanced versions all you want but those enhanced versions wouldn't have even existed in the first place without the games Masuda had to direct from scratch.

How I hope Masuda is approaching Gen 8, against the wishes of his higher ups. Them pushing for sales via pandering is what got us in this mess. He probably got scolded for the games he put the most effort into in the longest time. Here's to hoping he delivers a masterpiece.

Masuda seemed based until he mentioned the reasoning why the frontier was cut. I assume thats why.

I know man. I'm doing the same with my youtube channel. I used to put a lot of effort in my videos, only to rack 200-800 views.
When I started making literal no effort videos (like one music over some stupid footage) I got 6000 views in a heartbeat.
This is the kind of thing that makes you wonder if it is really worth it.
The answer is not.
We don't deserve hard working masuda, we deserve lazy masuda and I really can't blame him for that. Gen V was 10/10 and the only gen I really like beside Gen 2 which is Gold tier.

Masuda was fine up until the point where he completely omitted the battle frontier from ORAS because muh short attention span bullshit. The transition from Pokemon BW being the very deep, complex games they were, to ORAS was just jarring. He went from one extreme to the other and it wasn't well received by core fans. Now he's probably going to continue directing future Let's Go games and won't have main involvement in the core games, which is a good thing.
