Let's share all of our shitty theories about the Pokemon franchise. I'll start Pic unrelated.
1st Gen: Red & Green (1996) > Fire Red & Leaf Green (2004) = Remakes 8 Years Later.
2nd Gen: Gold & Silver (1999) > Heart Gold & Soul Silver (2009) = Remakes 10 Years Later.
3rd Gen: Ruby & Sapphire (2002) > Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire (2016) = Remakes 12 Years Later.
4th Gen: Diamond & Pearl (2006) > Prefix Diamond & Prefix Pearl (2020) = Remakes 14 Years Later.

I'm only joking, of course. There won't be 4th Gen remakes.

If that pattern is real then it's definitely going to be broken with the BW remakes.
There's no way GF is going to release a remake of the least popular gen in 2026, because that'll be Pokémon's 30th anniversary and they'll want to release an entirely new gen like they did in 2006 (DP) and 2016 (SM).

Gen 4 remakes have been confirmed since gen 4 itself, by showing us Primal Dialga and then releasing ORAS with the primal edition of the box legendaries years after.
Why more remakes, though? The only games needing remakes were the mainline gen 1-3.
I'd even prefer a PMD B&RT remake

Ultra Beasts (specifically Guzzlord) were originally planned for Z version. Being mid-gen additions would've added to the "are they Pokemon??" angle of the marketing since it's unprecedented. The Ultra Ruin would've fit well into the XYZ plot of Lysandre trying to prevent such a fate from befalling on their world. Perhaps all of the Ultra Beasts would've been mutants from that world, considering that giant cockroaches are a staple in post-apocalypse fiction. This explains why Guzzlord's world seems to be the only one with any actual lore or thought put into it, and the only one that will make it into the anime, possibly as a result of having extra/unused notes and sketches of it.

Magearna would've also been added mid-gen.

Here's an autistic take, Upper Versions were never intended to be created and only came about as an unintended necessity that GF continued out of tradition. Blue was created to be a patched version of Red and Green, and Yellow version was created as a tie in to the anime, thus beginning the unintended idea of 3rd versions, or Uppers.
