I get the function of catching is based off a spinoff, but the rest of the mainline tropes still apply. Spinoffs are simply anything that doesn’t follow that mainline structure, so the two Pinball games, Mystery Dungeon, Colosseum, Conquest, the TCG Gameboy game, and GO are all spinoffs. It’s not hard to understand.
