Pokken doesn't have shinies either. I think TPC won't allow them to use shiny palettes. Only Incineroar comes close, but even that isn't his exact shiny palette because the chest is darker.

Canonically, the Gen VI protagonist doesn't have tanned skin, and Ash's XY design is a mix of Calem and Red as he wears a short sleeved jacket like Red's but with Calem's colors. An XY Red being based on Ash and Calem is kinda neat. Smash has referenced the anime before too.

Charizard is the only one of the three mons with interesting alts, but he's also the only one I don't like to play.

It has nothing to do with canon or Ash. That alt costume used to have lighter skin but they changed it sometime between E3 and now. It got changed just like how some of Villager's alts got their skin color changed.

This picture just confirms for me that shinies should have more than 1 colour swap. Keep the chances of encountering a Shiny the same, but then give each Pokemon like 8 different skins like in OP's pic Poor shinyhunters tho

Nope, they changed it in the final game just like the villagers.

Inkling, Villager, and Pokemon Trainer now all have two dark-skinned alts, one for male and female.

Nope. They added a tan later in development because Calem has skin tone options, and it seems like "self insert" characters with skin tones have their last two as dark. Probably why Villager got the same treatment, while Robin stayed pale.

I'm more of a Ivysaur main so Purple bulb on the alolan trainer fits me more. If i had to pick one for the other two, I'd go for the second one with Squirtle, and whatever i feel like for Charizard since there's nothing much to him
