Why do so many people lump the EV system in with IVs as things that need to be changed? EVs have always struck me as pretty balanced and easy to understand.

Why can’t people just accept that IVs are a great way to make different Pokémon of the same species feel distinct? Can’t Gamefreak just remove the effect of a pokemon’s IVs in online multiplayer so that it’s only base stats + EVs?

I agree. EVs are perfectly fine, especially in Gen 6 with the Super Training System.

IVs on the other hand are an absolute cancer and should be abolished.

I don't have a problem with IVs either, and from the looks of it even the most casual Let's Go players enjoy chaining for better IVs.
The judge in the PC (SM onwards) made them much more palatable. They're only bad when they're invisible.

It matters when they're worthless compared to another of the same species becausetheir IVs aren't as high. It goes against GF's message of bonding with your Pokemon to encourage throwing them away for Pokemon of the same species with higher numbers.

IV's either need to go away or they need to become unmanipulatable. They work in the original context of "every pokemon is unique" but once you have the ability to breed or catch perfect Pokemon they just become an extra step rather than a novel feature
