>>37099488quick rundown: digimon is a monster raising franchise like pokemon, but different in that it started out as a virtual pet instead of a jrpg. instead of "catching them all," the focus is generally on forming an unbreakable bond with one partner mon and training them to get stronger. this is an oversimplification, since digimon is also a multiverse in which different mechanics and lore coexist, but it's still the basic idea of the franchise.
as far as the anime is concerned: tamers is kino. savers and adventure 01 are really good. 02 is a mixed bag. appmon is bad. frontier, xros wars, and hunters are terrible. tri is an abomination.
for games, start with cyber sleuth and hacker's memory since they're the most accessible and similar to pokemon.
i'm a huge digimon fan, i like it even more than pokemon, so of course i think it's good. give it a chance if you're curious.
