FRLG or RSE probably. Running shoes, faster animations - both battle and running animations than later gens.

FRLG is probably shorter overall, but RSE is beatable with literally only mudkip and its evos and has the mach bike.

Wasnt colluseum quicker than XD? I know I had higher level pokemon by the end of XD and they started much lower.

I once beat Silver in one sitting. All 16 badges. Funnily enough the only "hard" gym is the one in Goldenrod.

Easily this. It certainly varies what you mean. Johto is very short and getting to the elite 4 can be done very quickly. I don't think any game rivals this. However, this does cut out half of the game essentially.
