Its popularity seems to fluctuate in the West. They came back in a big way in 2004 and were a staple toy right up until smartphones became commonplace. In Japan, it's still doing incredibly well and has expanded to include color-screen toys with mobile app integration via bluetooth, and had two movies and an anime. America got jack shit.

With Tamagotchi and Conquest, the only thing I would really like to see is a straight Kindgom Hearts kind of RPG crossover where the monsters are used as part of the magic. While Totems were okay and I think should be kept, that seems to me the best possible way to actually use them as bosses since making some uncatchable would be okay as it's not main series.

Still quite annoyed they didn't give Nihilego at least a similar form to when combined with Lusamine.

Crossing with anything else wouldn't really make sense to me. Especially after seeing the laughable monstrosity of some of their other crossovers like with Mega Construx and things like what I call it's girafvee.

Ditto is easy to explain because it makes for a simple marbit that's still recognizable even if it's messed up. The top of Poliwhirl (eyes and arms) is actually the bottom half of Ditto flipped upside down. Oddish and Poliwhirl have the same legs so that's even less work than having to make a new mold for each pokemon. Oddish's spikes remind me of a certain icing nozzle so I think that's how they decided to include it. And then they did Pikachu separately because he's the mascot.

The three of them cleverly reused the same cutters, as opposed to having to make different cutters for bulbasaur, squirtle, and charmander.

Darumaka are noted to shit and people will pick them up and put the shit in their coats because it's warm. Go look at the Pokedex entry.
It's also noted that Guzzlord not excreting droppings is unusual for a Pokemon.

The original run of Tamagotchi toys ended in 1998.
The demand for Tamagotchi was huge and Bandai was struggling to keep up, leaving the door open for competitors to push out their own virtual pets, like Nano Pets and Giga Pets. They were easier to find and much cheaper, but they were all trash. They were bad enough that they dragged Tamagotchi's reputation down with them, and by the time Bandai was producing enough Tamagotchi to meet demand, the demand was gone and they nearly went bankrupt. If it wasn't for them getting some major toy licenses and Digimon taking off the way it did, Bandai would've been fucked before 2000.

I'd like a Pokemon version of Hearthstone a few years ago when it was a lot better

It would be such an unbelievable cash cow for them.The player classes could be the original gym leaders, remaining types become the neutral pool and then there is a shit ton of TCG artwork that can be reused.

This is blowing my mind. The company behind Tamagotchi is Bandai. Tamagotchi was released in the 90s, prior to Pokemon, and was often mentioned as an inspiration to Tajiri when he and his team were working through the concept stages for Pokemon. But conversely, around the time Pokemon was being worked on Bandai decided it needed to produce a Tamagotchi that aimed more for the "boy audience" as they were afraid the property had more interest among girls. So they created something that functioned more akin to an RPG styled v-pet with stats, that could battle other v-pets. Originally under the Tamagotchi line, it was eventually renamed. This battle v-pet series was called Digimon.

IE, Digimon are just Tamagotchi produced by the same company and studio with different name. This is like a Poke/Digi crossover without putting too much of a point on it and it's freaking me out.
