>>37101868I stand by the fact that they're not nearly as bad as Sun and Moon.
I still think X and Y are shitty games, but Sun and Moon unironically made me appreciate them a lot more.
I was barely able to trudge my way to the end of Sun and Moon, it was just an exhaustingly disappointing experience.
X and Y were still just as easy (if not easier), gave you way more handouts, Team Flare was shitty, and there were still way too many fucking cutscenes, but there were some things I liked about the game, which is something I can't say for Sun and Moon.
The selection of pokemon throughout the entire game is excellent. Gen 6 has a fantastic dex and introduced some of my favorite pokemon.
While I don't particularly love Kalos, it's got some nice locations, like that town with the giant crystal in the middle and the fairy town. It beats the hell out of non-stop tropical shit that all blends together in one boring slurry. The only places I remember from Sun and Moon are places that were extraordinarily shitty.
It introduced Pokemon Amie, which despite kinda fucking over any semblance of challenge by making your pokemon get free perks, added a LOT of character to EVERY pokemon in the game. I honestly can't believe that they animated every pokemon in the game to such depth, yet LGPE has the animations of a Nintendo 64 game.
I like the concept of mega evolution; it probably did more harm than good in the end by dumping it onto pokemon that were already plenty strong and really didn't need it, but it also brought some pokemon like Mawile and Medicham back from irrelevance.
Friend Safari was honestly a really good endgame reward, and the whole city you get at the end of X/Y is INFINITELY better than Sun and Moon's endgame, which is literally just a battle tower tucked into a tiny corner.
All of this being said, if it weren't for the massive dip in quality after it, I'd easily say that X and Y are the worst Pokemon games. But, they're not.
