>>37105766That makes sense. Masuda regretted that the technology wasn't there for transferring to be possible at the time. So he made FRLG as a sort of solution to that problem.
>>37105776Yeah the late evolution levels were bullshit. Unova is also pretty linear, though I think the sequels make it a little more interesting.
>>37105805>Just because that was the point doesn't mean it's a good point.I don't see how it wasn't a good thing. It encouraged experimentation instead of just using Gyrados or whatever for the 100th time.
It's part of what made the games feel fresh after 4 generations and gave us a higher amount of new pokemon to use.
Plus it's not like the old ones aren't accessible at all you just have to transfer them over.
>How about Game Freak actually doing their stuff well instead of half assing it and their blind fans defending it and blaming the backlash on the fans? The DS games aren't perfect but they're definitely not half-assed. They just took some risks which proved controversial.
>Because GF was incompetent even then?It wasn't technically possible to transfer older pokemon. They could have put more old pokemon in Hoenn itself, but I'm guessing they wanted it to have more of it's own identity. Masuda already had FLRG planned while making RS.
>>37105841>If they aren't there for nostalgia, why be there at all? While some nostalgia is nice for series veterans, I don't think they should rely on it too much since that leads to stagnation. They also need to think about potential new fans and people who started after Kanto.
