Why Platinum is so much loved by the community? Apart from new sprites and the distortion world there is nothing more than in Diamond and Pearl

Diamond and Pearl are painfully slow. L i k e a c r a w l i n g s n a i l. Platinum fixes that (and adds the Battle Frontier to the Battle Tower).

It doesn't make the games much faster then you think it does. Go back and play Platinum or even HGSS and you'll see what I mean. Also the text scroll speed is slow even if you set it to fast. Gen 4 engine is complete shit.

I did not see the transition between the 6 and the 7g because of the 3D models. Now with HD models on Switch, we will never have a graphic evolution and a feeling of change.

I was 12 when Diamond and Pearl came out in the US and I liked even those games, don't see why people say they were so much worse than Platinum.

Try to play them nowadays and you'll see. They're literally UNPLAYABLE (reaching gen1 levels) due to the extreme low pace in every point of the games. Platinum kinda fixed it

Because the community of /vp/ is most sinnohkids and it's the most playable version of sinnoh. Granted it's still terrible but nostalgia is a powerful force.

It's not, gen 4 was just retarded and decided to decrement HP bars by basically subtracting 1, then subtracting 1 again, and so on until it reached 0. Instead of subtracting 1%. So it takes fucking forever for Blissey to get KO'd.

I wish it did jump fps. I remember even as a kid thinking "why does Sapphire feel smoother than this?"

I turned off animations and sped up the text and it still takes forever for text to simply display on screen.

Here is a neat experiment. Try to play both back to back

There is so much shit wrong in DP is hilarious that the game was even released in the state it did. From lack of any fire types aside from Starter+Ponyta (check Elite 4 fire team), the fact that DP text speed in fast is slower than Platinum in NORMAL, the shitty level curve, Surfing speed is equal to your WALKING speed, among other things

I'll give you a clue why this is the case: One was directed by Masuda, and the other one was not

Just checked, the text speed is actually the same in DP and Platinum. It's just that in DP, the options never get saved if you exit the menu with the B button: you NEED to select the exit option at the bottom in order for the game to save the options. They fixed this in Platinum by prompting to save the options when you try to exit the menu with the B button.
It's a small detail, but it really demonstrates how unpolished DP were.
