Will they go for the two pictured here for maximum accuracy or give up and literally make "Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee 2" for maximum publicity and because they have no faith in anything other than Gen1 and CurrentGen?

As far as I can tell, game freak have never been shy to use new mons' to advertise there new game. Thats why we haven't had the same three starters for every gen.

Theres no way they will call its Let's Go 2. When have they ever done that?

Let's go is a dumbed down version of the series aimed towards people who don't really care for the series. Even if they don't stick with the "let's go" title they still have to put something on the cover. And togepi is no pikachu.

Let’s Go Silver

Alternatively a single Let’s Go Johto game but that doesn’t seem likely.

I genuinely don’t think the two in the OP can carry the weight of the Let’s Go franchise

Pichu and Togepi are a more likely duo.
One's literally Babby Pikachu that can reuse Pikachu's Snowflake Moves and the other's Gen 2's Base Form Poster Child that nostalgiafags will recognize immediately since it was responsible for reducing Misty into nothing but a pair of legs for Togepi, and they can just give it a Special Metronome that only chooses powerful moves and a Snowflake Psychic Move to call it a day.

Maybe they'll just replace the second mon, no one really cares about marill, but a lot of people know togepi

My guess is it will be Pikachu +the gens cute mon. Pokémon let's go jhoto Pikachu and togepi, plg sinnoh pikachu and piplup etc

Piplup is cute but it would be weird to suddenly have a regular starter without the others. My money is on Munchlax or Riolu.

I could 100% see riolu, I said piplup because it was always the favorite of Gen 4, with it getting the most merch and being the Pokémon of the misty in that really shitty 20th anniversary movie
