>>37129036That's the "easy" answer that you could probably take at face value and never have a problem, although anybody that's followed the Pokemon lore/timeline for more than just a couple years will know that it's not really that simple. Even in the fan-named "Megaverse", the games were designed to fit into the pre-established timeline. It's why X/Y has references to Team Plasma's first attack on Unova a couple years ago, to line up with the developers statement about the games being consecutive along with B2/W2.
So yeah, LGPE are canon to Gen 6 and 7, but they're designed to represent the entire Gen 1 canon timeslot, hence why there's strong continuity with HG/SS in the game, like with Archer.
Basically it's another RSE/ORAS situation where both sets of games are canon and in the exact same point in the timeline, and are designed to connect to the sub-sequential games, and any alterations and conflictions are simply "multiverse lol".
It's never as strict or as simple as just saying "X game is canon to Y timeline" because Game Freak has never operated under this system. They just have the vague multiverse concept so that all the games can be connected still, regardless of which version or remake you're playing.
I know people hate this, but tbqh its been this way since FR/LG itself, people only turned on the idea when OR/AS happened and shoddily made the concept a plot point during the Delta Episode. It was honestly a good way to keep the timeline consistent, but the continuity free and fluid for updates to the gameplay mechanics and such.
>>37129138Technically, Blue's role in the story is mostly unchanged. He still shows up at the key points in the story, and battles Team Rocket and stuff. It's just Red that got dialed back into just being a really strong trainer, but with (seemingly) no interaction with Team Rocket.
