So what the fuck is the deal with Solgaleo and Lunala?
Their pokedex entries implies they're from "another world", implied to be the Ultra Dimension, but why would the emissaries of the sun/moon be from another fucking dimension?
If they're not from the Ultra Dimension, why are they capable of opening a hole into another dimension?
Outside of the convenient fact that they're able to open a hole to another dimension, what the fuck is their role supposed to be?
Why are they called "the beast that calls the moon/the beast that devours the sun"? Do they control the sun and the moon? What does that have to do with Ultra Dimensions?
Why are they psychic types? Why's Lunala a ghost? Why's Solgaleo steel? Why would the representation of the sun be weak to fire?
Why do they evolve from the same pokemon?
Why do they evolve at all?
Where'd Cosmog come from?
Why the fuck are Solrock and Lunatone completely absent from Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon?

They represent the Sun and Moon of another world, not our own. There are already Pokemon that represent that in the Pokemon series...like Solrock and Lunatone.

Pokemon from Ultra Space have prime numbers for all their stats, and Ultra Beasts specifically are minmaxed. The Light Trio are simply the legendary trio of another world. They can open Ultra Wormholes because they're psychic types. None of the Ultra Beasts are.

In USUM Solgaleo is called 'the beast that devours the sun' not because it itself did that but because its appearance coincided with the appearance of Necrozma, which stole the light from Ultra Space.

They may be called the emissaries of the sun and moon but that doesn't mean they literally are these things. Absol is called a bringer of misfortune but only because it's always at disaster sites to warn others of said disasters, not because it causes them. Myths and legends are not facts.

I assume they evolve from the same Pokémon because Ultra Space is a parallel world. Similar to how Kantonian Cubone evolve into regular Marowak and Alolan Cubone in A-Marowak, Ultra Cosmog evolves into form A and regular Cosmog into form B depending on the version you have.

Recent legendaries may fall into this trap but look at them like Ho-oh and Lugia, or Zekrom and Reshiram. They are legendary because of actual legends attached to them specific to the region, not because they have superpowers to control an aspect of reality

They don't really have a special role aside from their ability to flee between dimensions. They are seemingly just a really strong species of pokemon from ultra space. They do absorb sunlight and moonlight for power, and they have a superficial resemblance to the celestial bodies. However, they are not emissaries from the sun and moon. They probably just showed up to dump their baby space fart in a safe location to grow up in before they beat up the tapus and forced them to raise it. The alolans ended up just going with it and attributed things to them/ built them monuments. It helped that they were related to the energy pouring out from ultra space that they seemed fascinated with. I think it's a pretty neat subversion compared to the literal pokegods we've gotten for a while.

They are also supposedly just the male and female evolution of cosmoem. As for the gender unknown part, idk. They did make a cosmog by screwing right in front of the player. It involved screaming and fading in-between dimensions. Also, I guess that identifying alien genitals from another dimension would be difficult.

Legendary pokemon are just powerful creatures. All the crazy legends attached to them are bullshit.

In most games you can visit a museum that explains stuff like evolution or the way the earth and seas were formed naturally and shit. That's canon in the pokemon world.

Kyogre and Groudon didn't create shit and can't do what the legends say. They are just very powerful beasts.

-They are Psychic type because in Pokémon that type represents the stars and cosmic power, it's perfect for them, and the Psychic also represents their power of "light" that only they and Necrozma have, this light is what deformes the reality and makes Ultrawormholes possible, also what can be crystalized into Z crystals.
-The Steel type is reference to alchemy, Solgaleo represents the lion that eats the Sun, a symbol that can represent how plants and life grow with the energy of the Sun or how the sulfuric acid (the green lion) destroys every metal but gold (the Sun), this represents gold is the purest of metals.
-The Ghost type is another reference to alchemy, since Solgaleo is the lion that represents purity and life, Lunala is the skeleton that represents rottenness and dead, thus Ghost type.

In fact, Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma represent 3 of the 4 process of the ultimate transmutation, nigredo (the putrefaction, the death, Lunala), then albedo (the purification, the life, Solgaleo) and citrinitas (yellowness, transforming silver into gold, this is Necrozma's purest form, the golden Ultra-Necrozma). The fourth and last stage is the rubedo, the redness that gives the stone its color.

Oh and Solrock and Lunatone not being in Sun and Moon is probably a joke
