I'm afraid the day they decide to break that tradition and give us starters of orher types they'll use it like just another TOTALLY FRESH AND NEW selling point, disregarding any sense of balance and throwing out a steel/ghost, a dragon/electric and a ground/poison trio each with their super special signature move and ability and maybe even z-move, because selling the idea is more important to them than preventing the player from being able to crush the entire game with their starter to an even easier extent than normal (and lgpe's eevee is already a low bar).
TL;DR - could be a neat idea if handled well but I just don't trust GF with it
