They know and have talked about how Mew was a big thing and that's why they keep doing mythicals to date but in reality if the bugs didn't make people's imagination shoot off into outer space, Mew would've meant very little.
The bugs are actually MORE responsible for their success for creating mystery.
Which other game series are quite popular for doing on their own. No way in hell garbage like Five Nights would EVER have succeeded if the lore wasn't there for people to obsess over.
They need to find and hire not only good writers but people who are competent enough to keep track of the lore across games and keep slipping shit in along the way that links up. They need to embrace the mystery they once had.
Honestly, I'd probably hate myself a little but if there were some small hint of that I'd have probably bought Trash Go.
