Raichu could learn Body Slam in gen 1. It's even a move used by Surge's Raichu in that episode of the anime. Can't learn it anymore, though.

Prior to LGPE, there was no way to get Jynx with Lovely Kiss and Psychic without either remembering Lovely Kiss or using the TM for Psychic.

Actually, in USUM you get a free Totem Marowak after you collect enough stickers. It's level 25, meaning that it actually learns Shadow Bone naturally.

Chespin and Quilladin can't learn Tackle in Gen 7 - for whatever reason, they learn Vine Whip at Level 1 instead, then learn Vine Whip again at Level 5 if they've already forgotten it. Chesnaught can still learn Tackle via the move relearner.
Quilladin is particularly weird because it's listed as learning Vine Whip twice at Level 1 (in addition to the one at Level 5), which is completely pointless. This actually got addressed in USUM, with one of its two Level 1 Vine Whip entries being removed, yet they didn't bother giving Tackle back to it or Chespin. Thanks, Game Freak.

I dont know if this counts but i've always thought it was odd that skull bash was a TM in gen 1.

Literally 95% of gen 1 pokemon can learn it by TM, and then never again after that.

Correct. More interestingly, Diglett, Dugtrio Voltorb and Electrode can learn it via tutor despite not having hands.

Murkrow can learn Punishement by breeding. Mandibuzz and Vullaby are the only pokemon who can learn this move and are in the same egg group than him. So you can't have a Murkrow with Punishement.

Breeding really suck since gen2

That can be traced back to its Japanese name, which is "Surprise Attack".
Same reason why all those birds get Heat Wave through tutors, as it's called "Hot Wind" in Japanese.

I have an idea for a green.

It would basically be only a few scenes about a pokemon that evolves through friendship with their trainer. Could be any mon but it would just focus on what actually pushes them over the edge into evolving.

I don't know if it's been done already or not but I thought it'd be neat.

Also, Feraligatr couldn't learn Waterfall in gen 2 for some reason. From gen 3 on, it can.

Only for Fliers. The "healing other party members" bit is extremely limited and doesn't even work in Gen 7 games and newer.

For pokemon like Mew or Latias it doesn't matter if you use Softboiled/Recover or Roost

You have the seismic toss tutor there.
I did a Disable / Rock Tomb / Seismic Toss / Fake Out Kangaskhan there so I could have scrappy. Its also the only way to get softboiled clefable.

These were old Pokemon Center giveaways right?
PCNY always followed a theme for their distribution schedule especially in late Gen 2/post-release Gen 3 because they had nothing in particular to promote. So they'd do silly things like "Spring Flowers Week" and just give away 5 popular monsters all with flower based moves such as Petal Dance. Not sure if that was an actual giveaway but you get the idea.

Apparently Shedinja can get Swords Dance in Gen 4 too, but it's probably one of the weirdest cases imaginable:

In Gen 3/4 games, Shedinja's moves are taken from whatever Ninjask knows after it has left the evolution screen, but in later games, Shedinja's moves are taken from what Nincada knew before it started evolving. Since neither Nincada nor Shedinja can learn Swords Dance themselves, the only way to get Swords Dance on Shedinja is to evolve a Nincada at exactly Level 25 (the level at which Ninjask learns Swords Dance) in a pre-Gen 5 game, and teach Ninjask Swords Dance while it's still on the evolution screen. Any other level and it'll be generated without knowing Swords Dance.

Gen 3 Pokemon learn a lot of absurd moves. The Togepi from Gale of Darkness knows Tri Attack, and it can learn a bunch of random shit like Softboiled and Mimic from Emerald Tutors.

Oi, that's what I wanted to post. It's pretty weird. Though maybe you could argue that it pronounces the line's connection to themes of royalty. They can only learn their most notable move if they were born with it, i.e. are of noble heritage.

the other pokemon that could learn HMs were Rayquaza and Salamence (Fly) and Sawk (Rock Smash).
some mons started learning it after they lost status: Volbeat, Morelull and Shiinotic can learn Flash, Drampa can learn Fly, Machamp can learn Strength, Pikipek and Crabrawler lines as well as Golisopod and Passimian learn Rock Smash, and Kartana knows how to Cut
A bunch of Pokemon got HM moves in their moveset in LGPE since the partner things replaced them
