I just hate how lazily the vines are drawn. Tangela has each vine drawn seperately, while for Tangrowth they're just a huge merged mess.
I understand that it is probably intentional, but it removes a main aspect of what I like Tangela for. It also loses the super bizarre human shoes.

Holy shit, Tangrowth would be terrifying in reality. A mass of writhing tentacly vines that grow right back if you try to cut them off and are stronger than any person. Worse, those vines literally release poisonous spores that can knock you out or paralyze you.

As a kid I saw tangela as some kid who got stuck in tall grass or something and sorta morphed. I thought it was a cool concept, but tangrowth just looks like tangela needs a haircut.

I guess, also the it just gets bigger thing, but i feel that is a bit too case by case and has just become a buzzword for "i can't come up with a reason why this evolution is bad". I mean, people say bulbasaur "just gets bigger" but its a natural progression baked into the design so i don't see the problem.

My first run of Platinum I did a blind nuzlocke and managed to catch a Tangela. I was extremely surprised when it evolved.

That surprise alone made it one of my top 10 favemons.

It's an ugly design overall, and not very creative.

When you look at the baby Tangela, it becomes clear GF always envisioned this as a waifumon, so it turning into...a shaggy beast was not ideal.

I like Porygon 2 just as much as Porygon Z, or rather, I can't decide which of the two I like better, that's why it's a god tier design to me. This is the only evolutionary line in the game where I can't pick an immediate favourite.

It's yet another fat sinnoh evolution. It just happens to be the one that actually makes sense and is a welcome improvement, but between losing the detailed design of Tangela and falling in line with the hated zeitgeist of the generation, it doesn't make a good first impression.

I badly wanted to like Gallade but its body is built like Gumball's. They even gave themselves a chance to course correct by giving Gallade a Mega but it still has that weird misshapen pelvis, but now it always dual wields duel disks. Hard pass.
