>>37143022And finally the battles, the absolute main entertainment factor from Pokemon, are incredibly boring, badly animated aside from Z-Move sequences and special cases like Brock and Misty's Gym Battles, while also being far and few between. Battles are no longer highlights and they barely happen, and what makes it worse is that the most capable trainers on the cast are Ash, Kiawe, and Kukui, because again, the classmates are a bunch of newbies, and even then Kiawe is still not even that good, or even comparable to Ash. The Kahunas are complete pushovers, and Gladion, who's suppose to be Ash's rival, can barely ever really hold his own against a powerful threat. It's a complete mess. And everyone relies on Z-Moves! So when we do finally get a somewhat good battle, the fact that we know it'll end with a Z-Move makes it predictable and boring.
TL;DR the episodes suck, the characters suck, the battles suck, the story suck, the artstyle sucks, and the animation is only good when it wants to be, otherwise it looks worse than Best Wishes.
