I genuinely thought LegoPee was made under 3 months by 20 people.
But then I looked it up and it turns out they spent TWO YEARS with a staff of over A HUNDRED PEOPLE. How the FUCK is that even possible? I've seen indie games with more polish than this turd.

Because they put minor effort into it. Many of the employees were probably working on LGPE and gen 8 at once. I can guarantee they'll reuse the code for following pokemon.

It started development after the release of the Switch which itself has only been out 21 months tomorrow, so no, not two years.

Not really an excuse, but when you consider they needed time to conceptualize and print the physical shit and whatever it probably means the actual work was done in a year at most.

gen 7 as we have it was not planned to be on 3ds, it is the delay of release of the switch and the arrival of the 20th anniversary of pokemon they had to do as soon as possible to tie sun and moon that was to go out surswitch, the walk animations for the overworld was too much already, lgpe was planned was done in the heat of the moment, lgpe has the default SL switch animations and has the old Art square design because they wanted to:
- keep the childish aspect
- save time
- the next games were not intended to be related to GO but the idea liked then they did it

What's got you so confused? the original pokemon game took like half a decade with many starts and stops along the way, I think it's safe to say that making a pokemon game is much more complicated than people believe, and just because they don't notice the effort didn't mean it isn't there

actually they spent 1 year.
they were looking for coders last year in 2017 for a "core pokemon game" which later turned out to be let's go. so development for LGPE is approximately 1 year, which isn't too bad all things considered with how much assets were available already to this team.

ITT: people who still think the franchise is about the video games when it actually is about pushing merch sales via anime, games etc.

The games literally only exist to make some side bucks while pushing toys and plushies, which is the main income.
Of fucking course they aren't going to put much effort and time into the games, they literally aren't even that important.

The games will never be as good as you want them to be, not even close. Move on or shitpost for all eternity about something that will never come true.

You realize plushes and toys and other merchs are also the focus of every other Japanese company like Gundam, Dragon Ball, Digimon, Yo-Kai watch, etc.. yet all of these have good games that moves with the current industry standards not stuck in 1998 and relying all the time on nostalgia to move on.
