Thankfully you don't have to do that if you use the tools available to you.
A ton of players who grind fail to utilize their items properly.
Hell, how many times have you used something like x-attack?
A handful of level disadvantage can be easily overcome by this if you adhere to the type chart in pokemon, yet I bet you that the majority of players who grind never even considered doing it and then are annoyed that they have to "grind" wild pokemon to get a higher level.
In fact the games got even easier in that regard by giving you more and more items to use to gain an advanrtage in battle, especially sine your ingame oppoenents are limited to healing items at best.
If you really want to paly a game that forces you to grind, play some of the original early DQ or FF titles.
That's the shit where you sit there for hours grinding away at mobs because you hit a roadblock.
