>>37145694This actually may be true, as the current opening (which will likely be used until end of 2018) doesn't account for Ash to get any additional captures or evolutions. The sequence where Ash goes through that recap with the film reels on screen as his team changes with each clip ends right when Poipole gets released.
>>37145716Ash has no reason to catch Guzzlord; it is already living in its Ultra Space and isn't going to Alola. And Ash won't try to catch any Pokemon that tries to eat him.
>>37145733Heracross was sacked and only got a few battles out of it. Noctowl barely did anything, only being used mainly for Morty. Phanpy did jackshit in Johto. Totodile barely got any better, only getting the Whirl Cup as its saving grace (and even then it was outstarred by Kingler). Bayleef and Cyndaquil were Ash's only Johto Pokemon that got any development and on-screen time.
>>37145705Yes.
Pikachu - Gets some development and doesn't really battle all too much; only had 6 major battles in entirety of Alola so far.
Rowlet - Was used a bit during the first 40 episodes of the series, but did jackshit for over 50 episodes until it finally got a starring role in SM097. Still useless.
Lycanroc - Most developed member of Ash's Alola team. Got its rivalry out there in SM027, was used for Olivia in SM036, evolved in SM037, mastered Z-Move in SM038, fought Silvally as Type: Null in SM047, helped Lillie in Ultra Space in SM053,got a complete starring role in SM075-SM077 (with it fighting the entirety of Ash's Grand trial with Nanu), and learned its signature Z-Move in SM078.
Torracat - Notable in that it learns a new move in every major episode it stars in, but it barely got any development outside of those episodes.
So, yes, worst team. Unova team had far greater type diversity and a bigger roster to compensate for lack of screentime for each individual member. (And the core 5 members still got plenty of screentime as is.)
