The competition's over now. What was your team?

I brought Lunala, Palkia, Breloom, Alolan Muk, Arcanine, and Comfey. But I mainly only used the first four. And like an idiot, I gave my Lunala a Life Orb because I forgot what its ability was. But I did pretty well regardless, with about 10 wins and 5 losses.

Yes, on all 4 of my copies with 3-0 on my main UM despite a haphazardly last minute chosen "team" (by which I mean I just chose 6 of my random battle ready Shinies to trigger Verlisfags).

I have to say though, Adamant Kyogre did way better than I expected without the Primal Reversion.

What's hilarious is that I somehow even managed to win one of them on one of my copies of Ultra Sun with the starter Rowlet, 3 Route 1 Pokémon, and the event Entei and Regigigas which I hadn't move to Bank yet.

What's funny is that if you disconnect too much you may lose out on the entry prize by possibly being disqualified. You have to place so if you're disqualified no gifts for you.

I got enough battles. I wasn't prepared so I lost a lot, but I did manage to scrape in one win. There was one match I was actually just about to win, but then Comcast decided to be trash and my internet connection died.

I played 4 battles, won 3. Team was kyogre, dialga, kartana, tapu koko, amoonguss, and Incineroar. I haven't even finished US/UM yet, so everything on the team except Incineroar was shit I scrounged from GTS using mewtwos from VC Red's old man glitch. Incineroar was literally the hidden ability one bank gave out that I haden't bothered to collect until now.

On my last match I had an opponent with an oranguru use instruct on my tapu koko, allowing it to attack their other Pokemon twice in one turn and kill it. I'm not sure what was going on there.

I also met someone using a decidueye. It coincidentally got taken out by Incineroar. I'm sure some shitposter somewhere will enjoy hearing about that.

So apparently there's some homebrew now which allows you to see a full dump of the opponent's team during team preview.

At the point where you connect to the opponent, the games transmit the teams to each other and an RNG seed - after that, the only thing that happens between the games is a small amount of data signifying which move they picked, so this is feasible. Apparently the new homebrew links up to a computer and displays the opponent's full team as soon as your game loads it in.

Has anybody else heard of this? I'm seeing a lot of VGC people complain about it on Twitter but can't find any trace of such software.

is it confirmed that everything about the team is transmitted? i don't know much about pokemon network traffic. if it is that would be a terrible design decision on game freaks part

Yeah, it's always been like that.
It's awful in terms of allowing everybody to see your full team, but it's the most efficient way of carrying battles out.
The alternative would be
a) Nintendo actually paying for servers that would make sure everything happens as intended
or
b) Only transmitting the effects of attacks, theoretically allowing hackers to change their stats mid-battle or force certain RNG events.

The really sad thing is that the Championship Points available for this are minuscule. Anybody with half a brain can take a run-of-the-mill team to a local tournament and get that many points. I would think most competitive players would even have valued the chance of practice higher than the small increase in CP they could have obtained by cheating.

Fake until this shit is actually proven, and that would mean linking to where this supposed hack even exists. Gamefreak patched this in XY. Don't you think its a bit mysterious how this only shows up now all of a sudden after 5 years. Even the twitter guy doesn't have proof, and something of a hack of that nature would have made its way to /vp/ already with all the leaks and game dumps we get.

Ran a Koko Gourgeist Kyurem-B core. Electric seed Gourgiest uses trick room, Koko volt switches out to kyurem, and thanks to Trick and Pickup with Gourgeist, can use freeze shock as many times it wants with power herb.

PokeDigger seems to be enabled in the program by default. One could fiddle around and search for any valid pokemon data in the RAM through it.

That includes pokemon form a trade partner, battle opponent/ally

That would make sense, but it doesn't really line up with what happened. The turn before hand, they set up trick room, then the next turn they hit my other pokemon with fake out from hariyama. Then proceeded to use instruct on tapu koko to let it hit Hariyama twice in a turn and kill it. They then forfeit the match.

The only thing I can think of is that they thought instruct worked differently than it actually does. The other possibility is they misclicked and meant to instruct hariyama, but it doesn't really make sense they would do that on the turn it used fake out.

it turned out to be so fun I kept going to 35 battles

maybe it was because 80% of the opponents were just playing for the shiny, because there is no way my silly TR trashmon strategy is that good
