I mean, kurt can make pokeballs from some fruit things, and sometimes there's references to pokeballs from centuries ago. just what the fuck are pokeballs?

Pokeballs are man made so obviously they're technology. They've never explained how Pokeballs work simply cause it's a kids game/show and those things aren't supposed to be cared about, they just are.
