The Detective Pikachu trailer got me interested in Mr. Mime, so I took one out of my PC and started training it and desu I like it. It’s not top tier or even the cutest pokemon, but I think it’s kind of charming and fun to use now.

it's a psychic type so it's probably capable of complex thought even if it doesn't speak

even the "mr." in its name implies some sort of humanity

it makes me uncomfortable. I don't like it. even its face is incredibly punchable. i think if one of my family members caught a mr. mime and brought it home to help around the house like ash's mom, i'd probably suffocate it to death at night. i bet you'd go to prison for a long time though because it's so close to a person. it's like having a slave midget with down's. keep it away from me.

That is only a handful of animals who's names in the english language alone imply a biological sex.
Across the world there's thousands. Not to mention animals like bovine's and peafowls being adjusted over time to compensate for the fact that the average person wouldn't stop calling them by one of their gendered names
