Don't act like Pokemon haven't been putting 2 words together to make a name since the beginning, why is Talonflame any different to any of the others?

Because they literally just slapped two very generic words together. At least with "Glameow" they fused the Ms. Also, "Glam" isn't even the first word that comes to mind when it comes to cats. Same goes for "fisk."

Talons are generic bird parts, and Flame is just a generic world for fire. No combination. No puns, nothing. At least "Fiarrow" (Its Japanese name) is a bit better.

Admittedly I didn’t think it would fit but I feel that way about a lot of names like Blacephalon, Decidueye, Incineroar, Diggersby, Yveltal etc. lotta names need time to stick

Are you blind. It's Fiarrow. The words are combined, unlike Talonflame. "Arrow" isn't a generic word associated with birds either, unlike "Talon".

GF made two fire types based on big cats in two generations who both have roar in their names. I highly doubt GF are concerned about names 5 generations later sounding similar.

Phonetically it’s Fee-Arrow, vs Fear-ow. It’s waaay to fucking close. Time gaps mean literally nothing. Not a good idea to have conflicting english names so they reinvented the wheel. Is it a little tryhard, sure. But that’s a little endearing

Not every name needs to be a portmanteau there's no hard fast rules. It's good nomenclature and it matches. Zebstrika is the worst sounding name to me.
