So why didn't Lego want the Pokemon IP? I doubt Mega Bloks/Constructs was TPCI's first choice. Not that I am complaining mind you, I've never had the same hateboner for Mega like many other people do. Just curious I suppose.

Buddy you just know they're gonna make Gardevoir and Glaceon at some point. Probably even Salazzle by next year's end.

I've seen them mostly at Target and local hobby stores, but I'm certain the ones on Amazon are legit so long as they aren't from China.

Saw these at walmart the other day. These are so bad. I was only tempted by the luxury ball capsule (didn't even care who came with it). Pokemon don't really translate well into block toys imo.

Some are great some are horrible because they are forced to use same pieces over and over.

For example Mimikyu looks HORRIBLE with long neck, while Catterpie or Salandid looks 10/10

Megabloks grabbed up the license back in gen 3. Back then, Lego only had Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Disney/Pixar, so they were obviously a LOT more picky about their licenses. Mega Bloks managed to grab up some good shit like Halo and Pokemon because they didn't give as many fucks about their brand image.

Because LEGO Pokemon is a terrible idea. Nothing about the two really goes hand in hand.

Either each pokemon has to be built of 50 block each like these abominations, or they would have to produce a lot of new "special" blocks that couldn't be used for anything else. Or even worse, each pokemon would just be a unique block. All options are terrible.
And who are these models aimed at? Children? 30 bricks to make 1 leaf. Waouw! Looks more like collector's items for adults.
LEGO is about building stuff. Harry potter has Hogwarts, Star Wars has the space ships. What does pokemon have? The pokecenter? Nice square building.

LEGO just can't do anything clever with the franchise. It's just a bad fit for what LEGO does.
