>>37156590it's a good spinoff, but not a great game. I'm definitely enjoying it more than (U)SM, but I really doubt I'll ever go back to it.
the candy system makes the game campaign feel infinitely better than the hidden EV system, the punchbag/training system was a step in the right direction but it felt disjointed compared to candies obtained by playing a core mechanic, which allow you to boost the stats of your compaignmons how you like as opposed to their EVs all being a jarbled mess with no focus
the aim-catching mechanic is cool in handheld mode (those motion controls can suck a million dicks) but it was no replacement for wild pokemon battles and being able to use your pokemons abilites to make your catching easier, it should have been more like pokemon ranger where you can both use your pokemon abilities and do the catching gimmick
why the FUCK they removed abilities and held items is beyond me, single battles were already shallow sessions of "press the strongest attack until you win" and now they're even more so. I'm not asking for a complicated battle system, but I'd like to at least have the opportunity to build team synergy instead of literally just having one pokemon with perfect coverage and then abusing that because there's NOTHING else to combat. I should note that this has been a problem with the games for basically ever but I was hoping they would do something to fix it, not make it worse. Children never had a problem with Colosseum/XD, I sincerely doubt they were worried about making the game too hard.
