Speak for yourself. The last truly great Pokemon game was BW2.

Jokes on you, I became nostalgic for XY in the run-up to USUM. They went from being pretty meh on my first playthrough in 2013 to being far and away the comfiest Pokémon run ever in 2017.

I'm pretty tempted to play through X or Y, since I missed them when they came out and only played from ORAS onward. PSS works the same way, right? I've been wanting to do giveaways again, but Festival Plaza is so heinous that I just completely gave up on it for gen 7.

Yes, PSS works the same way. For the best experience from XY, box any giftmons you get and try to aim for at least 4/6-Kalosian team composition. Otherwise, you'll end up with a 4/6-Kantonian team by virtue of Game Freak's """gift""" Pokémon.
