Why do I still like Pokémon? Everything about it should indicate that I should either hate it or not care about it by now but I don't, why?

I feel the same way about modern Pokemon that I do about the AssCreed franchise. There's something that could be genuinely great at the core, but the developers fuck it up every time.

If Gen 8 is shit I would definitely advise moving on from new ones entirely though.

At some point you have to cut your losses and accept the drug addict doesn't care about anything but getting high so you're just destroying yourself for them.

The competition sucks. I dumped Pokemon for traditional anime years ago, but years of erosion have effectively killed the medium.
Games suck too. Pokemon is the only game that sort of resembles what it was in 1998. Platformers, FPS, RTS, adventure games have all changed or disappeared since that time.
