You know, the /MELTING POT/ ? Unova literally means one community despite the difference, which is supposed to be a reflection of New York, the state it was based on.
It doesn't matter if everyone has a different cultural background, it's all a community blur in the end. Which is why the starters were based on different countries, to reflect that image Unova has, what with all the cultural diversity and whatnot.
