Diamond and Pearls dex was awful, at least Platinum added Flareon, Houndour and Magmar. The only dragons you could get are Altaria and Garchomp not counting legends!

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking with the DP dex. Basically forces everyone to pick chimchar because water and grass pokemon are a diamond dozen while fires are practically nonexistent.

This never bothered me because there was always another type to use for coverage, namely Fighting, Ground, and Flying, which were all basically necessary anyway for coverage.
The only Pokemon that would be troublesome in DP without a Fire type move was Bronzong, but this is in-game we're talking about.
Honestly for Fire type coverage I used an Octillery with Flamethrower.

Sinnoh was always supposed to be a northern region, so there were fewer fire types.

Personally, I' liked the DP dex more than Platinum, the imbalance lent itself to the background of Sinnoh.

At the very least I wish they had kept Flint and Volkner's original teams.
