>>37179867The real reason it was banned was because Smogon has an informal rule that 580-680 BST is the cutoff of OU, 680-780 BST the cutoff for Ubers and 780-800+ BST the cutoff for AG. The council actually looks at this first, even before taking into account abusive abilities, interactions or typings. They even mentions it sometimes in their announcements.
A 700 BST Pokemon won't fall to OU without some crippling flaws, like Kyurem-B and Hoopa-U. Mega Metagross has no flaws as it's a complete improvement to Metagross in every way. Smogon hates this kind of Pokemon, no matter how innocent it might be in practice, and isn't above buying votes to get them kicked out.
