Knowing GameFreak, you'd need to buy LGPE to act as a medium game (Kinda like Gen 4 for transferring between Gens 3 and 5) even though they could make it so Bank can connect to all switch games, they probably just want to squeeze some more money by making it a mandatory $50 + Bank to transfer old mons, The other Pokemon exist in the files, I imagine this is the reason why.

You have to transfer it through Bank or whatever Poketransfer software Game Freak will develop for Switch. We're unlikely to get Meltan or Melmetal event distributions in Gen 8 or any future generation, not as long as GO exists and is receiving support. Niantic is making it increasingly easier to obtain Melmetal and Meltan, and it will probably be even less difficult to obtain in Gen 8 when LGPE hype died down. (Melmetal demand is really high right now, but it will slow down next year.)

I'm expecting polished Gen 7 with pacing issues still being a thing.

Theres town too, having more development time doesnt mean anything when at the longest this franchise had like 2 years of dev time, the games are shat out quickly.

Learn how Game Freak works and wherew TOWN likely sprung from. Game Freak have a policy where they let staff work on personal ideas and projects as long as they're up-to-date with company related shit, it's where Harmoknight came from in 2015 and likely where TWN became a thing too. However, only 14 people worked on Harmoknight all told and given Game Freak also hired about 150-200+ (I've seen differing accounts of staff numbers reported) staff since 2016, I'm pretty sure TOWN not only has at most 25 on the dev team, but that Game Freak can currently afford to spare those 25 bodies right this minute to work on it.

Even without LGPE being a thing, the general trend has been streamlining and dumbing down pokemon, especially with the 3DS games onward. We're all familiar with that Masuda quote about how they say they don't even bother with extra shit anymore because "people just play on their phones instead!".
So I really wouldn't expect them to turn things around at all.

Ultra sm was literally some of the hardest stuff ever in a pokemon game. The cutscenes sucked and it was full of roadblocks but the totom pokemon were a pretty good challenge.

Worst case scenario, it can ONLY be transferred to LGPE requiring you to buy LGPE in order to Catch 'Em All, in a truly ironic fate that a Kanto Pandering Game is required to complete your Pokedex "full of digimons".
