hey /vp/, is it even worth to pick USUM at this time? I skipped but I'm having an urge to play Pokemon and don't want the shit letsgo game. Should I buy it or keep playing old games?

USUM is fine if you liked SM. I'm convinced most of /vp/ didn't even play it and just parrot whatever the shitposters say. It streamlined the handholding aspects of SM, has one of the hardest boss fights in a pokemon game, and added loads of side quests. If you didn't like SM at all, it won't change your opinion, but if you did and want more Pokémon, it's worth a shot.

Be sure to play the haunted pokemon school side quest, especially.

As for post battle facilities, there's the Battle Agency which is like a worse Battle Factory. And the Battle Tree, which is a copypaste from SM.

For me both gen 7 games were a waste of time and money. I only had enjoyment in S/M in the start but it declined with more playtime and USUM made me annoyed after like 2 hours of play already

I downloaded both Omega Ruby and Ultra Sun, but I'm playing through OR first. Is there anything wrong with US compared to normal Sun version? I just assumed it's the "definition addition". Which I'd be against if I were paying for it, but I'm not so that doesn't matter.

I liked both ORAS and USUM, but SUMO not so much, so if you feel like getting it, I think you should because it's a pretty good game, minus the shitty cutscenes and handholding at the start. It get's pretty difficult later on, I had a bit of trouble around the end of the game and I have beaten every pokemon game atleast once, so yeah. Do what ya want faggot idc.

How's the leveling curve in (Ultra) S/M? Although X/Y were far too easy, one thing I appreciated about them was how the wild pokemon leveled lists actually kept pace with my pokemon and the opponent trainers' pokemon fairly well. One thing that bugged me in OR/AS (as well as R/S before it) was how if you caught a cool new pokemon on a random route, chances are you were going to have to level it up a TON because the wild pokemon would constantly be like 10-15 levels below what your pokemon were at, meaning a ton of grinding to get them up to par. But with X/Y if there was a new pokemon I wanted to try, I could just use it right away.

I think it's pretty well balanced all around. You just gotta think a little more before you attack later on, or maybe you don't if you're better at the game than me? Who knows. One thing I can say for sure, both SuMo and USUM are way harder than XY that's for sure. I completely wiped the floor with the elite 4 the first time around, and I was fucking 10 levels lower than them. It was pitiful.

Yes, tons to do in the game, and necessary if you want to play competitive on cartridge.

Great game to nuzlocke (arguably the hardest), fun for shiny hunting, tons of sidequests and new areas.

Only gripe is that the new battle facility is rather lackluster

Yeah, it was the same situation for me in X/Y. Which was strange because since I was refusing to grind or use the exp share and intentionally used a lot of below-average pokemon rather than pseudo-legendaries and such, a lot of the gym leaders actually gave me a decent challenge. Nothing ridiculous, but decent for a mainline pokemon game. And then I got to the E4 and they were all a complete fucking joke, even by X/Y's standards.

And I also really don't like the trend started with Gen 5 where you get to pick the order you fight the E4 in. Getting to choose means there's no steady ramping up in difficulty from the first to the 4th like there used to be.

I have no problem with choosing which you want to battle first. I honestly don't care which system they go by, because if they're hard they'll still be hard. I think the toughest elite 4/champion I've ever fought is probably from B2W2. I have never gotten so pissed at a champ before like I was at Iris, only maybe Lance in HGSS. But damn she was fucking tough man, and I thought I had a fucking amazing team.

The only games I haven't played are XY, BW2, and USUM. I decided to pick up USUM for christmas though even after already having 350+ hours in Sun. I don't think there's enough new content to justify buying basically the same game a second time, but might as well get it as a gift. Rainbow Rocket sounds cool and so does the legendary hunting. Also I was a big fan of the story in Sun so hopefully the new story will be great too
