I guess the movie reboot failed to get the attention they wanted, now they're just doing superficially different stuff hoping it grabs moviegoers.
I mean, they could just try to make good movies for a change, but what do I know?

This is probably going to be a disaster. They only think worse than Femtwo is doing a shitty movie then trying to portray it as OG Mewtwo. There are some things that are obvious you don't do, especially with the hindsight of Genesect, and giving Mewtwo a new gimmick power up is boldface on that list.

Legend of Sanctuary. It had the same problems as Pokemon's 20th movie did (craming too much shit into a movie,) but its CGI ended up being its best trait. That movie looked like the CGI from KH2, and the 22nd movie is being co-directed by a guy who did work for Square namely Spirits Within whose best attribute was also its CGI.

3D animation just isn't as appealing to me. A CGI Pokemon movie (a traditional one, not Detective Pikachu) was long coming though, I'm sort of surprised it didn't happen sooner. I'm already hoping this is a one time thing and they go back to 2D next.

While that would be awesome, OLM won't bother with that. They just need to stamp the Pokémon logo, Ash's and Pikachu's faces since despite the memes only an insignificant part of the fandom hates them (and that's mostly edgyventures fags that want an anime), to earn money.

Shudo was also credited in M20. While M22 will probably follow the same story beats as M1, there's no chance in hell there wouldn't be some form of Gen 8 or Meltan shilling, and I can't see Meltan having an extensive arc in the anime since next year will be the end of SM, the premire of the movie, and the start of Gen 8. The movie will go gold in the Summer (as usual) during the middle of Gen 8's hype train.

Chances are they'll have the trainers from movie 1 use mega or new pokemon. They might just be replaced, and Misty/Brock are replaceable too.
