They'd rather play the newer game and complain about how outdated (graphically, gameplay-wise, QoL shit) the older game is rather than start with no expectations on the older game and get surprised by the influx of changes the later games had.
Like imagine not being able to appreciate Gen 1 because you played Gen 2 first without context.
