>>37219359The issue with the leveling curve in post-game GSC is that they were trying to make things more "realistic". From a narrative standpoint, it'd be weird if the kanto gym leaders were stronger than the Elite 4 and Champion, and if areas that used to have wild pokemon level 10-20 were now in the 50s. So they designed it to make more sense narratively, even if this caused an issue where the gameplay suffers as a result, with everything being a joke.
This seems to only be a hangup with GSC though, and later games learn from the mistake and give post-game trainers proper levels
