Saying it's just saving time and effort is no different than saying knocking over a bank is saving time and effort for you to start a business. You are not entitled to do so.
It's one thing if you're just doing it among friends, but once you go online you're agreeing not to do so and part of that is that you are saving time and effort which gives you an advantage competitively. Doesn't matter whether other people can do it, it's that you've both agreed not to.
Although, realistically it's not even saving that much at this point in comparison. Money can be difficult to get unlike Pokémon via breeding in Gen 6+. Hell, you don't even really need to do that at this point at all thanks to Hyper Training.
