>>37231228>world's best breeder>studies to become a doctor>is pretty much getting the best of both>world's best water trainer>has been doing better at achieving that managing her gym then actually travelingI don't see why you consider this giving up.
Gary talked big but most of the time he and that always came off as a joke anyway, the only time he actually became serious was when he actually talked about going into research. Even then, a master's such a vague goal that you might as well think of that as another path to the same goal.
>May giving up in the games is bad news because nobody does that in the games, except May, while everyone does in the anime. You shouldn't expect her to buck the trend when even her game counterpart fell into a depression and quit.Again, the games and the anime aren't 1:1. Two losses in a row and rather than being depressed and giving up she's still at it.
>Iris also lost to Clair, a trainer Ash defeated 12 years earlier, when he was still a scrub. She was using her overpowered Dragonite and still lost. You're saying that as if Clair wouldn't improve and Iris was giving up when she clearly isn't.
>Except nobody in the anime ever gave up on their first lossAt the first loss at something major. Which by the way, that's exactly what Shudo envisioned. They'd fail, they'd realize that what they're doing is dumb, then stop chasing after what they wanted just to go do something normal. He wouldn't have them persevere at something "foolish".
I mean hell, other shows do that to, and you either get the loss or you get such a 'power creep' that it'd get ridiculous.
