I really hope CP will return and new meta will be build around it. Pokemon go Leagues proved this system is WAY better than anything smogon made. A huge plus is the IV dont quite matter in this, and this is great.
We could have 500, 1500, 4500 and unlimited.

that's the point though, it means that higher level Pokemon can compete even if they have bad stats, but Pokemon with better stats have to be lower leveled, so it ends up more balanced. if you coupled this type of auto-tiering with real Pokemon's diversity of options & strategies, it'd be quite fun

By what logic? Good stats and high level is the optimum state, it always has been, even for this. Not even your steroided up shitmons will stand a chance against a pokemon that was already good, but has the same amount of stat gains.
