The way LGPE displays what you're going to be fighting removes an important part of the randomness inherent in hunting for certain Pokemon.
I don't mind random encounters being gone, but then they'd have to change that to moving rustling patches of grass or moving shadows or something like that. Not the obvious Pidgeys flying around.

The fuck is yours? Just use a repel like you always do, me - I'd rather rustle up something potentially different to what's already on display in the overworld, particularly when I don't WANT to encounter anything that's currently spawned (not big on having to burn time, while also WANTING to encounter pokémon RE's make me feel like I'm doing something, other than waiting like a spazz).

I have no idea what this even means. All you're doing is looking for 1 pokemon on display at a time instead of 5-7.

Though i feel there's a big false equivalency between listing pros and cons. Pros are often superficial visual fluff, while the cons are fundamental game design changes.

I think that really depends on the game in question.
I personally think LGPE is a massive turd, so any kind of pro I'd list is probably going to be a small superficial thing, because I think that the game fucked with fundamentals that it shouldn't have fucked with and that makes it difficult to list anything big as a pro.

2D to 3D remake:

The tileset geometry doesn't suit well a game with free roaming and no random encounters, the level design has to change and i hope it does for the eventual LG Johto boogaloo

Daily reminder that the only reason why Gamefreak added roaming overworld Pokemon as opposed random wild encounters was to appease GOfags/normies who are used to seeing what Pokemon they want to go catch on GO's overworld map. There is no other reason. Random encounters would be too tedious and tiring for GO normies. And it's going to be removed for the next "core" games. Don't feel like Gamefreak was doing something special here.

I like the idea of overworld encounters but the pokemons just walk around doing jack shit, they should have ditch the grid based level design and make an big open world where pokemons interact witch the environment .
but alas, game freak/nintendo are lazy pieces of shit and made a gimmick for fanboys to drool over.
