>Hoenn. Pretty well interconnected, more than one way to reach the same place and interesting side areas. I think water routes should had more diving portions with hidden caves and islands, but I don't despise exploring the few areas avaiable, it isn't like if there was any other region with interesting water routes anyway. I like the main cities and the first routes you visit once you get surf are great.
>Sinnoh. Although the adventure follows a linear path, they made it pretty interesting with Mt.Coronet as a lobby and some portions of backtracking. Not much interconnection outside of Mt.Coronet, post-game is linear too, and every side-area ends up in a dead end.
>Tie between Kanto and Johto. I like how many side-areas you have in Johto, mainly counting the remakes, but they don't give you much incentive to explore them. Once you reach Lugia the islands and sea are just uninteresting, Mt Mortar is completely unrewarding, Ruins of Alph's underground could be a dungeon instead of a corridor, maybe more connected with Union Cave, and Dark Cave is, again, barren, and a complete waste of potential in what could be a Mt.Coronet's alpha connecting areas earlier, and not when you're leaving Johto behind to get to Kanto.
>Kanto is very simple, but I really like its dungeons and means to get certain items, such as the surf HM or the key to Blaine's Gym. Routes are a bit boring and could be expanded for more HM usage. Remake's additions are pretty linear, but the addition of a dungeon for Moltres and the feeling of visiting uncharted territory made it pretty good.
>Kalos is not bad in my opinion, but maybe too linear/no side areas for my tastes, in addition to the pokemount areas + desert that make feel the the traversing as a hellish chore on replays. Luminalia was always interesting, but I think the other towns suffered because of that and felt extremely bland after the first visit.
